Wimmera Aero Club formed in Nhill in 1947 to provide training at an affordable price and at the highest possible standard for prospective private or commercial pilots. It has trained thousands of Wimmera pilots. Wimmera Aero Club, run by a volunteer committee, offers pilot training at Nhill, Horsham, Warracknabeal, Naracoorte and Mount Gambier districts and individual aero clubs provide support and infrastructure.

Wimmera Aero Club runs regular ‘come and try’ days throughout the Wimmera. Keep an eye out in your local newspaper for venues and dates.

Dimboola train driver Wayne Elliott, 53, has long had a desire to fly an aeroplane. Mr Elliott is now learning to fly with Wimmera Aero Club and hopes to have enough flying hours under his belt to gain his licence in October.

and experiences in learning to fly —
